Terry Kennedy

Some people are just destined to be stars… big time. Terry Kennedy is that dude. Terry’s has been skateboarding for less than seven years. One year into the game, he was hitting big rails with ease, a few years later; he turned pro and was a TV star on Viva La Bam. As if that’s not enough, hip hop icon, Pharrell hand picked Terry to be the captain of his skate team/footwear brand, Ice Cream shoes. And Terry deserves it all, because his personality commands as much attention as his ability to ride a skateboard—he’s loud, funny, confident honest and talented.

Terry had a controversial move from Baker to Element then back to Baker from Element a few years back… got that? Upon returning to Baker, Terry banged out a sick part in the Baker 3 video. Where you’ll see that despite the recent tragedy of getting a gunshot to the face, Terry is healthy, in good spirits, still skating, still living for the moment and, well, still the TK that everyone’s grown to love and respect. He’s not the type of dude to let anything hold him back. When asked who his favorite skater is, Terry shouts out Baker teammate Andrew Reynolds. “I’d have to say Andrew Reynolds, because he’s seriously no joke. He won’t stop. He won’t give it up—that dude’s so motivated. I love him. He’s sick.”

Seven years is a long time, but it’s most likely just the beginning for Terry. Don’t be surprised when you keep seeing this dude all over the place in the next year or so.

If you could do one thing to change the world right now, what would it be?

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you?
X Games in Mexico this past summer I almost got nutted. It was CRAZY – in front of all of them people! That was so embarrassing. I just missed the rail and it caught the back of my thigh. Thank god I am tall!!!

What’s a TV show you watch that’s embarrassing to admit to?
Sex and the City – I saw the movie and all the females were bosses man. Now I catch the show when it comes on. Those chicks are tight.

Favorite place to travel?
Australia because everyone speaks English, they love Americans and it’s clean.

Worst travel experience ever?
I was like 16, first time out of the country - coming back from Spain I was by myself, I fell asleep in the terminal and I couldn’t reach anyone. They barely understood what I was saying. I couldn’t get on another flight until like the next day. It was sketchy.

Worst advice anyone’s ever given you?
Telling me to keep hanging out in my neighborhood at a time it wasn’t safe – that’s how I ended up getting shot. We all know that story.

Stupidest thing you ever wasted your money on?
I had a dent in my car and I tried to buy dent remover (listening to my peers again) and it made a hole in my car. So I was rolling around with a hole in my car – instead of a dent.
