Makua Rothman



If any kid on the North Shore would one day be king, most would place their money on Makua Rothman. Growing up surfing with his dad, Eddie Rothman, founder of “Da Hui,” provided Makua with a marked advantage over other kids his age. While many of his friends were playing around in the shorebreak, Eddie had Makua out in the waves pushing him into waves much bigger than the young man. Now grown up, Makua is making a name for himself, not just as the heir to the Da Hui thrown, but as a committed and talented surfer in his own right. A standout at Pipeline and fearless in the face of Jaws—Makua Rothman is one of Hawaii’s most anticipated up-and-comers.
