Q & A With Mike Jones
What has been the hold up with your new project?
I did not have the same staff as we had back then with “Still Tippin’” [The label] fired that staff. So, we had to fall back and wait for them to put a real team together.
What do you have to say to those who complain that your style has changed?
You know what’s funny about that? When I first came out and was saying my name, they were like, “He is saying his name too much.” And now, they are saying, “He doesn’t say his name anymore.” So, it just goes to show that you really can’t satisfy anyone and you just have to be yourself.
Is hip-hop dead?
I am representing the hip-hop movement. A lot of people are saying that hip-hop is dead, but we are all out here right now and we are still going.
Why do you think hip-hop is taking a beating in the media right now?
I don’t think it’s a beating, at least not in a bad sense. Bad feedback is good feedback. Right now, they are really putting a lot on us. Bad press can turn into good press. We are all out here coming together [and making music].
So, Mike Jones, when can we expect the new music?
I am coming for ya’ll on December 4th!
